      General description

      Aquanal™ kits can be used for the determination of hardness and phosphate, ammonia, nitrate, and nitrite concentrations. The presence of a high calcium content in water corresponds to a high water hardness measured in German degrees of hardness (°dH). The performance characteristic of water is, however, significantly influenced by the hardness. Basically, soft water (e.g. calcium-deficient water) is more suitable for hot water applications: coffee machines, washing machines, steam irons, kettles and water heaters can be contaminated by hard water and possibly damaged. Many manufacturers give recommendations for regular cleanings or application of water additives for hard water.
